Address by the President of the Myanmar Women's Affairs Federation Thet Thet Zin to the participants of the IV Eurasian Women's Forum.

First of all, let me thank the Honourable Valentina Matviyenko, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, for her kind invitation to participate in the fourth Eurasian Women's Forum and once again apologize and express regret for my inability to attend the events in person.

The principles and objectives of this High-Level Forum, in particular strengthening the leadership role of women in our increasingly complex world, as well as developing mutual understanding and trust among countries and peoples to strengthen unity in the face of the challenges the world faces today, are fully consistent with the main priorities of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, namely strengthening women's rights, as well as empowering women and young people in various fields. This is best demonstrated by the fact that the President of the Republic, after his recent re-election, decided to dedicate his second term to young people: to provide them with good education and training, to increase their chances of employment, and to increase the proportion of young people in various positions related to the management of public affairs.

I am convinced that education is the most effective tool for empowering women and providing greater opportunities for young girls to take up leadership positions in the public and private sectors, which would also enhance women's contribution to promoting development and peace.

In this regard, I congratulate the Russian Federation on organizing such an important Forum and confirm our interest in cooperation with the Eurasian Forum regarding all the stated goals and objectives.

I cannot help but mention the generous scholarships and research grants that the Russian Federation annually allocates to developing countries, and I try to ensure that most of them go to deserving young women. I wish the Forum participants successful work.

Thank you, and may peace and God's mercy be with you.
