Women: Together for a Healthy Society. Cooperation without Borders

On the sidelines of the Eurasian Women's Forum, a strategic session "Women: Together for a Healthy Society. Cooperation without Borders" was held, organized by the project of the Council of the Eurasian Women's Forum "Women for a Healthy Society".

Modern healthcare is focused on an innovative vector of development, opening up more and more opportunities to combat life-threatening diseases and increase human life expectancy. The ability of healthcare systems around the world to reliably protect the health and well-being of citizens, relying on the results of the latest achievements in medical science and their rapid implementation in practical healthcare, depends on how effectively the mechanisms of international cooperation in the processes of integrating innovative technologies and unique advanced approaches in organizing flexible and sustainable healthcare systems that would be able to adequately respond to the challenges that have arisen will be built.

The session was moderated by Evelina Zakamskaya , presenter of the Russia 24 TV channel and editor-in-chief of the Doctor TV channel .

The session was also attended by the head of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency (FMBA of Russia) Veronika Skvortsova ; Deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Evgenia Kotova ; Commissioner for Planning, Financing and Policy of the Ministry of Health of Uganda Sarah Baiqiqa ; Director of the Department of Regulation of Medical Institutions of the National Health Regulatory Authority of the Kingdom of Bahrain Hesa Sabah Al Doseri ; Director of the National Medical Research Center for Therapy and Preventive Medicine of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Chief Specialist in Therapy and General Medical Practice of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation Oksana Drapkina ; First Deputy Director for Development, Head of the Healthcare Directorate of the Roscongress Foundation Anastasia Stolkova ; Head of the Regional Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus Boris Michel .

"Healthcare is acquiring a female face in many ways. At the peak of international cooperation in global healthcare, Russia has become a driving force in shaping the global agenda in the field of healthy lifestyles and prevention of non-communicable diseases. Women are increasingly leading projects and initiatives in public health and healthcare at both the national and regional and global levels, influencing policy, legislation and resource allocation to improve public health and ensure active longevity. As in practical healthcare, many scientific projects and research centers are successfully headed by women. At the same time, women scientists have special qualities - intuition, multitasking, determination, discipline, which help them achieve success in research. The international women's movement is a powerful force that allows society to develop harmoniously, look to the future with optimism and stay healthy," said Veronika Skvortsova, head of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia .

During the discussion, experts discussed such issues as uniting the efforts of the international community to preserve the health of nations and political decisions that should contribute to strengthening such interaction; as well as in what areas it is primarily necessary to build bridges of long-term mutually beneficial cooperation, how to establish mechanisms of cooperation between friendly countries in the field of borrowing innovations; what areas of medicine and medical services are today the most promising in the agenda of medical tourism development and what successful practices of their implementation can form the basis for international cooperation; what is the role of women in improving global health policies and how women employed in the health sector influence the formation of a healthy society in Russia and abroad. Also during the discussion, representatives of the participating countries shared successful practices for achieving national well-being.

The Fourth Eurasian Women's Forum is taking place from September 18 to 20 in St. Petersburg. The organizers are the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The operator for the preparation and holding of the event is the Roscongress Foundation.
