"Green Future": the competition for the best environmental projects by women from BRICS countries was launched on the sidelines of the EWF
The Council of the Eurasian Women's Forum and the State Corporation Rosatom launched the First International Competition of Women's Environmental Projects of the Council of the Eurasian Women's Forum "Green Future" on the sidelines of the Fourth Eurasian Women's Forum. The idea of holding the competition is not only to identify international corporate practices in the field of ecology and sustainable development, promote and replicate the best environmental projects in the BRICS countries, but also to create opportunities for the development of international eco-projects in Russia, as well as the formation of networks for international environmental cooperation.
The experience of different countries shows that the driving force behind the transition from a consumer attitude towards nature to building a "green" economy and a sustainable future are often women who are actively involved in public and business processes. For many companies, increasing the number of women among employees is becoming a priority in the ESG development strategy, since women are much more likely to come up with environmental initiatives and stimulate the introduction of "green" technologies into business processes. The goal of the new Competition is to find such women and tell the world about their projects.
The start of the competition was announced to journalists on September 18 by the Chairperson of the Council of the Eurasian Women's Forum Galina Karelova, Deputy Director General for Human Resources of the Rosatom State Corporation Tatyana Terentyeva, member of the Council of the Eurasian Women's Forum, project coordinator, co-chair of the All-Russian environmental public movement "Ecosystem" Alexandra Ryabykh and women leaders in the field of ecology and sustainable development from the BRICS countries.
"We see that a large number of women in the BRICS countries are launching their environmental projects, including on a voluntary basis. We are holding this Competition in order to popularize women's initiatives in ecology, motivate women to create projects in the field of environmental protection, support women's leadership and strengthen cooperation between the BRICS countries in the field of environmental protection. This is the first international Competition of Women's Environmental Initiatives held by the EWF. We hope that it will become an annual event and will contribute to the growth of new projects," said Galina Karelova .
"The launch of the first international competition of women's initiatives in the field of ecology and sustainable development from the BRICS countries "Green Future" opens up new opportunities for the implementation of environmental projects for women from 10 countries of the Alliance. The formation of "green" economies and providing them with the personnel necessary for the energy transition is one of the priorities of the BRICS countries. Today, the Alliance members are world leaders in the number of workers involved in all energy sectors. And given that the ESG agenda is at the heart of Rosatom's development strategy, we readily supported the competition," commented Tatyana Terentyeva, Deputy Director General for Human Resources at Rosatom State Corporation .
During the presentation of the competition, Alexandra Ryabykh noted that the BRICS countries, ecology and women are three powerful engines that today direct society towards harmonious development, combining technological progress with concern for the environment.
"Despite the fact that each of these forces pursues its own main goal, they are united by a common desire to improve the quality of life of others. Women are especially prominent as leaders in the field of ecology, offering innovative ideas and modern approaches to nature conservation. Their contribution to the sustainable development of the BRICS countries and the world is invaluable, be it the introduction of educational approaches and the implementation of mentoring projects, or the dissemination of environmental culture, the protection of ecosystems, the implementation of environmentally friendly projects in large industrial companies and the creation of the latest technologies in the field of environmental protection. All these bases formed the basis for the creation of the competition. By recognizing women leaders in the field of ecology from the BRICS countries, Rosatom and the EWF Council not only recognize their merits, but also provide an opportunity to share best practices, and also give an incentive for further development and promotion of environmental goals," said the member of the Council of the Eurasian Women's Forum.
Leaders of environmental projects and initiatives from 10 countries are invited to participate in the First International Competition of Women's Environmental Projects of the Council of the Eurasian Women's Forum "Green Future": Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
