Graduates of Woman Leader Programme to Present Projects at EAWF
Graduates of the Woman Leader programme will have an opportunity to present their projects at the 4th Eurasian Women’s Forum (EAWF), which will take place in St. Petersburg on 18–20 September 2024.
Galina Karelova, Chairwoman of the EAWF Council and First Deputy Chairwoman of the Federation Council’s Committee on Federal Structure, Regional Policy, Local Government, and Northern Affairs, said during a press conference at TASS today that women from 78 regions of Russia and 31 countries have participated in the Woman Leader programme over the time it has existed. They are currently implementing 169 social projects.
“Our job is to ensure that this programme includes the maximum number of regions. We see that they have a huge desire, and the governors are also supporting them and asking us to speed up the start of this educational programme in their regions as much as possible,” Karelova said, noting that the organizers welcome and support the development of this programme.
“But we have seen the biggest change in this programme thanks to the Eurasian Women’s Forum. Female members from other countries of the world are genuinely jealous that we have the opportunity to conduct such educational programmes,” Karelova said. Based on their requests, the decision was taken to hold international courses of the Woman Leader programme.
“From the outset, we agreed with the organizers that our programme is not so much about acquiring as it is about gaining project skills,” she said. “As a result, over the programme’s existence, 169 social projects emerged on highly significant and sometimes flashy topics that require immediate solutions.”
Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko previously invited graduates of the programme to take part in the upcoming 4th EAWF to tell the whole world about the results of their work and how they are applying the knowledge gained from the project in practice.
Matvienko noted that the Woman Leader project creates another dimension of cooperation for those who love Russia and for whom the country, its culture, and history remain family, no matter where they currently live.
The Eurasian Women’s Forum has been held regularly since 2015 and has become a major authoritative international platform for dialogue between women leaders from all continents and the working out joint decisions on current issues concerning international cooperation, sustainable economic development, the development of new technologies, ensuring a healthy lifestyle, environmental safety, and the promotion of social charitable projects.
The EAWF is organized by the Russian Federation Council and the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The Roscongress Foundation is in charge of preparing for and holding the Forum.
