An online store “Women’s Investments” for women entrepreneurs and women investors will appear in Russia in the fall
This was announced by the Chairman of the Council of the Eurasian Women's Forum, Senator Galina Karelova during the session of the EWF Council "Women's Leadership in Investments", which took place on the sidelines of the SPIEF.
As Galina Karelova explained, it will become a new international investment platform. The idea of the store is simple: sellers are business owners or authors of projects, buyers are investors. The “store” owes its creation to participants in projects of the EWF Council that attract women to investment activities.
“This is a new, kind of experimental, stage of our work, which previously included mainly educational programs that develop women’s investment competencies and stimulate their economic activity,” Karelova said.
She noted that practice shows an increase in women's interest in learning to use financial instruments. Last year, the EWF Council, together with partners in its project “Women’s Leadership in Investments,” in addition to launching three new educational projects on the online platform, launched a series of television programs “Why Women Invest” on RBC - it collected more than 1 million 200 thousand views.
“We hope that among the women who actively used our information, there are those for whom the work of the “shop” will help them apply their knowledge usefully and profitably,” Karelova said. According to her, it is planned to launch a new digital platform in September, during the IV Eurasian Women’s Forum. At the forum itself, the topic of “women’s” investments will be continued. In addition to thematic discussions, a special investment zone will be organized, where you can get advice and also try yourself as an investor.
The discussion participants discussed what offers of the “store” could be in demand among women investors, so that it could become popular and work as an investment platform.
They noted that, as in other countries, women's interest in investing is growing in Russia. The share of women among Russian investors has tripled over the past five years: from 15% in 2019 to 42% in 2024. Russia is now in second place in the world in terms of the number of women investors. On the one hand, according to experts, this is due to the increased availability of investment instruments and the growth of the investment market as a whole, on the other hand, to the growing level of financial and investment literacy of women thanks to educational projects, including those implemented on the platform of the EWF Council.
“It is important to maintain the trend of growing women’s interest in investments, since income from them improves the economy of families and becomes significant financial support for women,” concluded Galina Karelova.
