V. Putin called the Eurasian Women's Forum one of the most authoritative international platforms

The President of the Russian Federation spoke at the plenary session of the fourth EWF

In St. Petersburg, at the Tauride Palace, the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin spoke at the plenary session of the fourth Eurasian Women's Forum.

According to him, the Eurasian Women's Forum is one of the most authoritative international platforms demonstrating the potential and capabilities of modern women, their truly colossal creative role in almost all spheres of our lives.

The Russian President particularly emphasized that the forums reflect the most important demands of today, and promote ideas of unification in the name of sustainable development and universal security. "Today, this is more relevant than ever and is in demand by millions of people on all continents. After all, humanity has faced very complex problems, and they can only be solved together, taking into account each other's interests," Vladimir Putin emphasized.

The plenary session was chaired by the Chairperson of the Federation Council, Chairperson of the Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States Valentina Matviyenko, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Natalia Kochanova and Chairperson of the Council of the Eurasian Women's Forum Galina Karelova.

Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Dilrabo Mansuri emphasized that the Eurasian Women's Forum, which has already become an authoritative platform, plays an important role in the development of international dialogue, the introduction of new initiatives, and the development of common approaches to solving global problems. She expressed confidence that the current meeting of the Forum will contribute to the expansion and strengthening of multilateral cooperation and will allow us to bring our positions closer together in many areas.

Sonia Gandhi, Member of the Council of States of the Parliament of the Republic of India, sent a video message. “The Eurasian Women’s Forum has rightfully earned a special place as a platform for dialogue and discussions among women parliamentarians and opinion leaders on pressing global issues. Its importance is growing as the world grapples with the challenges of global warming and climate change, growing inequality both within and between countries, the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, loss of livelihoods due to environmental degradation, and persistent violence, conflicts and wars,” she said, adding that these issues are of direct relevance to women’s lives and they must work together to find effective solutions.

The Chairperson of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Speaker of the National Assembly of the United Republic of Tanzania, Tulia Exon, also made a video address. “The theme of this forum largely echoes the commitments of the Inter-Parliamentary Union to develop inclusive and constructive inter-parliamentary dialogue. In particular, it is extremely important to bring together women leaders to discuss common problems and share experiences. Women's leadership is the driving force behind progress in all areas that will be discussed

here, from strengthening peace and developing technology to ensuring social well-being, environmental sustainability and preserving culture,” she emphasized.

The Fourth Eurasian Women's Forum is taking place from September 18 to 20 in St. Petersburg. The organizers are the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The operator for the preparation and holding of the event is the Roscongress Foundation.
