V. Matvienko: Russia can become a haven for those who share traditional values
The Federation Council Speaker took part in the discussion “A View of the Changing World” within the framework of the fourth Eurasian Women’s Forum.
Chairperson of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko took part in the parity discussion "A View of the Changing World" within the framework of the fourth Eurasian Women's Forum. The moderator of the event was Margarita Simonyan, Editor-in-Chief of the RT TV channel and the Russia Today media group .
The Federation Council speaker emphasized that the global majority shares Russia's goals and universal traditional values. "We cannot focus only on the topic of Western countries aggressively pushing the gender agenda, but we should talk about the broad threat of attacks on traditional elements of cultural and social sovereignty in the world."
According to Valentina Matvienko , the gender agenda is only one of the "heads of the hydra". "It is important to work systematically in all areas, including all traditional elements of cultural and social sovereignty in the world. Russia has enshrined traditional and spiritual-moral values in the Constitution. This is a good example for other states."
The Chairperson of the Federation Council believes that family and traditional values are a defense, a civilizational fuse against the liberal machine of the West, which seeks to build a system of control over the global world in its own interests. "And they want to control not humanity, but an impersonal biomass. It is for this purpose that everything that the thousand-year history of civilizations is based on is being destroyed," Valentina Matviyenko emphasized . She noted the need to legislatively resist technologies that work to destroy the traditional family. At the same time, the head of the Federation Council emphasized that the state always leaves women and men the right to choose whether or not to create a family and have children.
"Russia can become a haven for those who share traditional values. But this does not mean a mass migration of peoples to our country. It is necessary to more actively promote narratives of traditional values," the SF speaker emphasized.
Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Natalia Kochanova reported that Belarusians know the history of the country and honor traditions. "Belarus does not defend itself from the liberal agenda, but lives by its own mind. Our state has deep historical roots. At the same time, the Constitution of the country enshrines that a family is a marriage between a man and a woman."
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, noted that Russia is not taking on the role of leader. "We are talking about our experience, history and achievements, which we are ready to share with the whole world."
The discussion was also attended by Russian senators, the head of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency (FMBA of Russia) Veronika Skvortsova , the rector of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Alexander Yakovenko , the director of the BRICS Institute Binod Singh , and representatives of foreign delegations.
The Fourth Eurasian Women's Forum is taking place from 18 to 20 September in St. Petersburg. The organizers are the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
