Tatyana Sakharova: Women in Russia and the Arab World Have Many Promising Points of Contact for Cooperation

The senator spoke at a thematic session within the framework of the fourth Eurasian Women's Forum.

Deputy Chairperson of the Federation Council Committee on Agrarian and Food Policy and Environmental Management, member of the Council of the Eurasian Women's Forum Tatyana Sakharova spoke at the thematic session of the fourth Eurasian Women's Forum "Dialogue of Women Russia - Arab World" in St. Petersburg.

"Ensuring genuine gender equality and improving the status of women are among the key challenges facing the global community. The discussions taking place these days on the sidelines of the Eurasian Women's Forum confirm that women from different countries have many points of contact and common interests in key areas of development," the senator said.

Tatyana Sakharova emphasized that open dialogue provides an opportunity to strengthen cooperation for promising projects and expand the horizons of interaction.

"The joint efforts of women with their inherent tolerance, friendliness, and humanism are extremely important in the current realities for the development of strong socio-economic ties. They concern healthcare, education, culture, industry, and high technology. Cooperation in these areas will have a positive effect in terms of improving the well-being of society and expanding interaction with women in Arab countries," said Tatyana Sakharova .

The parliamentarian noted that Russia has accumulated significant experience in promoting the women's agenda, where the EWF Council, which operates on a permanent basis under the Federation Council, plays a significant role.

The Fourth Eurasian Women's Forum is taking place on September 18-20 in St. Petersburg. It is organized by the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The operator for the preparation and holding of the event is the Roscongress Foundation.
