The pre-forum of the Eurasian Women's Forum in Kuzbass was discussed at a press conference in TASS
Chairman of the Council of the Eurasian Women's Forum Galina Karelova took part in a press conference at TASS dedicated to the III Women's Forum in Kuzbass “The role of women in the development of industrial regions in modern conditions,” co-organized by the Federation Council of the Russian Federation. It was also attended by the head of the state fund “Defenders of the Fatherland” Anna Tsivileva, one of the organizers of the Forum, and the head of the Geopolitical Observatory on Key Issues of Russia (GORKI) of St. Petersburg State University, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria (2017-2019) Karin Kneissl. They discussed the main issues of the Forum program, which will be held from May 30 to June 1, 2024.
Chairman of the EWF Council Galina Karelova emphasized that the III Women's Forum in Kuzbass is considered as a kind of “pre-forum” of one of the main international events of this year - the Fourth Eurasian Women’s Forum.
“More than 30 regional and federal pre-forums have already taken place, the III Women’s Forum in Kuzbass “The role of women in the development of industrial regions in modern conditions is certainly one of the most ambitious,” she noted.
According to her, the Forum in Kuzbass is of great importance as a platform that has already become traditional for discussing and developing decisions regarding the role of women in industry.
“The time that has passed between the Forums has posed many new tasks,” she said. “Breakthrough rates of development are needed in microelectronics, small-scale chemistry, and in the revival of machine tool construction.” Ambitious plans are being implemented in the regions of Siberia and the Far East. Kuzbass itself is at the center of these plans. The forum is important from the point of view of understanding and formulating new trends in women’s participation in this process, as well as for their professional support, including in those industries that should be actively developing today,” she said.
Karelova also spoke about the concept of the upcoming fourth Eurasian Women's Forum.
— The main theme of the Eurasian Women’s Forum is strengthening trust and global cooperation. Its discussion will take place within five thematic platforms dedicated to the multipolar world and diplomacy, economics, science and technology, climate and ecology, health and social well-being, traditions and cultural diversity. I am convinced that many projects and solutions presented in Kuzbass will become an organic part of them, especially those related to health, ecology and technology,” Karelova noted.
She also answered a question about the EWF projects that will be presented at the Forum in Kuzbass.
— Our projects are of an applied nature and are absolutely in tune with all the tracks of the Forum program in Kuzbass. There is a place for everyone, but special emphasis will be placed on women's participation in maintaining public health, their role in the mining industry, high-tech industries, supporting women's entrepreneurship, and tourism. These projects are now extremely relevant in the regions
Siberia and the Far East, for which the task of preserving and developing human resources is a priority, which means that it is important to make more efforts both to create a modern social infrastructure and to create conditions for women’s participation in the work of new and development of existing enterprises, - said Karelova.
International cooperation, according to Karelova, will be an area of special attention at the Forum in Kuzbass.
— The interaction of women today is especially important in the context of ongoing changes. The Russian women's community is open to dialogue, to mutually beneficial projects, to developing joint steps that lead to an improvement in the international climate. A number of events are planned at the Eurasian Women's Forum, including the BRICS Women's Forum, the Conference of the World Federation of Russian-Speaking Women, a dialogue between women in Central Asia and Russia, a meeting of the International Council for the Support and Development of Women in Industry and Technology, and of course, traditionally, a meeting of the Women's Twenty. The forum in Kuzbass will be an important part of the preparation for these events,” the senator concluded.
