Chairmanship of the International Council for the Advancement and Development of Women in Industry and Technology for 2025 handed over to Indonesia
The Eurasian Women's Forum hosted a meeting of the International Council for the Support and Development of Women in Industry and Technology "Global Strategies for the Professional Development of Women in High-Tech Industries". The member countries of the council presented the results of the work of 4 groups: "Women in Leadership" led by Alexandra Ryabykh, "Women in STEM" led by Nezhva Kammun, "Girls in STEM" led by Dr. Genia Rina Sunario, "Women in Entrepreneurship" led by Olivia Limpe-Av.
The International Council for the Support and Development of Women in Technology and Industry is supported by the Council of the Eurasian Women's Forum and is implemented within the framework of its platform "Women in High-Tech Industries: New Opportunities". It was created on the initiative of the Association of Women in the Nuclear Industry with the support of the State Corporation Rosatom. Its goal is to popularize scientific and technical professions and to ensure a wider representation of women in leadership positions.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the interim results of the work on preparing a strategic document on the involvement and development of women in high-tech industries – the White Book, and also handed over the chairmanship of the Council to the next participating country – Indonesia.
The results of the Council's work will form the basis for the development of the White Book strategic document, which I mentioned earlier. In the long term, we are confident that the collection of best practices and joint work will allow us to influence the increase in the percentage of women employees in energy and science in our countries; increase the interest of young girls in STEM disciplines, and open career paths for them in nuclear energy.
"Today, there are topics that unite us. There are areas in which we can only work together - this includes the popularization of STEM professions and increasing the number of women in high-tech industries. Man is at the beginning of all technologies. And women, with their empathy, flexibility and interdisciplinary approach, can become drivers of the development of new discoveries that will stand at the forefront of our developing economies," said Alexandra Ryabykh, member of the EWF Council.
Summing up the results of the Council meeting, Deputy Director General for Human Resources of the State Corporation Rosatom Tatyana Terentyeva emphasized - “Over the two years of work, our Council has grown significantly. Initially, 10 foreign countries were represented in it - Kazakhstan, Turkey, Indonesia, India, South Africa, the Philippines, Tunisia, Armenia, Mongolia, Uzbekistan. Today, representatives of 17 countries have gathered at the meeting. These are Council participants, observers, and women leaders from different countries interested in it. All this suggests that the topics we discuss and the initiatives we implement are important in all countries and on all continents.”
