Prospects for international humanitarian cooperation discussed at Eurasian Women's Forum

First Deputy Chairperson of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building Lyubov Glebova held a thematic session "The Humanitarian Mission of Women: Global Experience and Prospects for Cooperation" within the framework of the Fourth Eurasian Women's Forum. The event was attended by the Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Policy Grigory Karasin . The discussion brought together delegates from Russia, South Africa, Burkina Faso, Cyprus, as well as representatives of international humanitarian organizations.

Opening the meeting, Lyubov Glebova emphasized that "there is not a single area in the life of any state that would do without women's participation." "A woman is included both by her professional training and by her level of intellectual development. In this, she is in an absolutely competitive position with men," she said.

Grigory Karasin noted that women currently play a special role in building international cooperation. "Their mission is important - women make a significant contribution to the humanization of international relations, strengthening the atmosphere of trust and understanding between peoples," the senator concluded.

The head of the Russian Centre for Science and Culture in Cyprus, Alina Radchenko, spoke about how Russian compatriots living in this country became the basis of a public movement, including among Cypriots, for traditional values of raising children and strengthening families.

Deputy Chairperson of the Commission on Economics and Labor Relations, member of the Coordinating Council for International Cooperation of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation Olga Golyshenkova introduced the participants to the activities of this institute. She emphasized that today this institute has become a place for the formation of many communities. "It is women who are more inclined to unite in communities both at the international and federal levels," she noted.

The Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Vladimir Region Olga Khokhlova presented a set of legislative initiatives of her region on sustainable development of the non-profit sector. At present, a constructive dialogue between state and public institutions has been established here.

"Women are often the beneficiaries of programmes implemented in many countries, and women play an important role in the implementation of humanitarian aid programmes. They contribute to this process in public policy sectors such as health, education, protection, peace and security, logistics and crisis management," said Nandi Some-Diallo, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and National Solidarity of Burkina Faso .

The importance of cooperation between public organizations and government institutions was noted by the head of the department for humanitarian policy of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Ruth Marie Hetherington : “Governments of different countries help public organizations and civil activists to carry out large-scale work. And this is especially important in the context of various conflicts.”

Larisa Dal, Head of the Department for the Development of Educational Activities of the Russian Society "Knowledge", outlined the criteria for distinguishing this activity from educational or upbringing activities. Particular emphasis was placed on the use of the latest technologies in fulfilling the order of the President of Russia to reboot the "Knowledge" society.

Managing partner of the international group of companies "Ecostandard", president of the Foundation for the Support of School Professional Orientation "Green Brush" Vera Kuzubov drew parallels between the perception of femininity in the American feminist agenda and in traditional Russian culture.

Vice-Rector of Synergy University, CEO of TechWeek Elena Alonchikova presented programs to form the acceptability of Russian higher education abroad, how the proactive position of women in this matter influences successful educational and outreach activities.

The Fourth Eurasian Women's Forum is taking place from September 18 to 20 in St. Petersburg. The organizers of the EWF are the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
