The Eastern Economic Forum discussed the role of women in the country's economy

The session "Preserving Traditions, Developing the Country. The Role of Women in the Economy" was held at the Eastern Economic Forum. Participants were welcomed by the Chairperson of the Council of the Eurasian Women's Forum Galina Karelova.

She noted that the EEF, being a major international platform, opens up new prospects for the Russian business community, in which the share of women is already 44%. Almost the same percentage of small and medium-sized businesses operating in the Far East were created by women.

In her opinion, supporting women's entrepreneurship is extremely important for the development of the economy and export potential of the region, which at this stage faces the task of increasing the population and attracting personnel.

— The issue of employment and self-realization of women in the Far East can be considered strategically important. If the appropriate conditions are created, the result will be the solution to the problem of retaining personnel, creating new families, and solving the demographic issue, — Karelova said.

The senator noted that the projects of the Council of the Eurasian Women's Forum aimed at expanding women's opportunities play an important role in this. She recalled that in 2024, special programs were launched - "Woman Leader. Fleet Cities" and "Woman Leader. North and Far East". Their result should be the implementation of women's initiatives for the socio-economic development of the territories of the macroregion.

Karelova also noted the need to create new incentives for women involved in the transformations, and support their cooperation with new partners. She wished the session participants successful work and expressed confidence that the decisions they made would be developed at the IV Eurasian Women's Forum, which starts on September 18 in St. Petersburg.
