The IV Eurasian Women's Forum will launch the international competition of women's environmental projects of the Council of the Eurasian Women's Forum "Green Future"
On September 18, on the First Day of the IV Eurasian Women's Forum at 10:00, at the interactive space "Women in the World of Technology" in the Catherine Hall of the Tauride Palace, a presentation of the First International Competition of Women's Environmental Projects of the Council of the Eurasian Women's Forum "Green Future" for women from the BRICS countries will take place. The organizers of the Competition are the Council of the Eurasian Women's Forum and the State Corporation "Rosatom".
Sustainable development of global ecosystems today largely depends on how ready business and society are to transition from a consumer attitude towards nature to building a "green" economy of the future. The experience of different countries shows that women, who are actively involved in social and business processes, often become the driving force of this process. For many companies, increasing the number of women among employees is becoming a priority in the ESG development strategy, since women are much more likely to come up with environmental initiatives and stimulate the introduction of "green" technologies into business processes.
The Green Future competition is aimed at identifying international sustainable corporate practices in the field of ecology and sustainable development, promoting and replicating the best environmental projects in the BRICS countries, creating opportunities for the development of international eco-projects in Russia, and forming networks for international environmental cooperation.
The objective of the Competition is to find such women among residents of the BRICS countries. Leaders of environmental projects and initiatives from 10 countries are invited to participate: Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. Nominees can be representatives of industrial businesses, public, non-profit organizations or universities, employees of protected areas, researchers and inventors, influencers and opinion leaders involved in the protection of biodiversity, environmental education or the popularization of environmental culture in their country. Applications for the competition are accepted in the following nominations: "Green Personnel", "Ecological Culture", "Ecosystem Protection", "Green Corporations" and "Green Technologies".
The best women's environmental projects from the BRICS countries, identified based on the results of the assessment by international experts within the framework of the Competition, will receive mentoring support, the opportunity to promote, scale up and replicate in other countries.
"We see that many women in the BRICS countries are launching their environmental projects, including on a voluntary basis. We are holding this Competition to popularize women's initiatives in ecology, motivate women to create projects in the field of environmental protection, support women's leadership and strengthen cooperation between the BRICS countries in the field of environmental protection. This is the first international Competition of Women's Environmental Initiatives held by the EWF. We hope that it will become an annual event and will contribute to the growth of new projects," said Galina Karelova, Chairperson of the Council of the Eurasian Women's Forum under the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
"The launch of the first international competition of women's initiatives in the field of ecology and sustainable development from the BRICS countries "Green Future" opens up new opportunities for the implementation of environmental projects for women from 10 countries of the Alliance. The formation of "green" economies and providing them with the personnel necessary for the energy transition is one of the priorities of the BRICS countries. Today, the Alliance members are world leaders in the number of workers involved in all energy sectors. And given that the ESG agenda is at the heart of Rosatom's development strategy, we readily supported the competition," commented Tatyana Terentyeva, Deputy Director General for Human Resources at Rosatom State Corporation.
The following will take part in the ceremony announcing the start of the Competition:
- Galina KARELOVA, Chairperson of the Council of the Eurasian Women's Forum under the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation,
- Tatyana TERENTYEVA, Deputy Director General for Human Resources of the State Corporation Rosatom,
