The fourth Eurasian Women's Forum held a session dedicated to the health of working citizens for the first time

On September 20, as part of the third and final day of the fourth Eurasian Women's Forum, a thematic session "The Health of Working Citizens - a Factor in Sustainable Economic Development and Social Well-Being" was held. As all speakers noted, today the development of human potential, the development and improvement of a set of measures to strengthen health are of particular importance.

The moderator of the discussion, First Deputy Head of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia, Coordinator of the Eurasian Women's Forum Council Project "Donation is in Our Blood" Tatyana Yakovleva reminded that the more working people with good health and active longevity there are in the country, the higher the social well-being in the end. At the same time, it is women who become the driver of positive changes in this area.

The topic was continued by the Minister of Health of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, Cristina Albul , emphasizing that a modern woman does not know how to give half her all, is hyper-responsible, combines professional activity and family responsibilities. Today, many measures are being taken to preserve the health of the population, conditions are being created for this. But if the person himself is not interested in this, this work becomes practically useless.

In Russia, as VTsIOM polls show, high physical activity is becoming an integral part of a healthy lifestyle. This is a consequence of information campaigns of recent years and the implementation of national projects, said Elena Mikhailova, Advisor to the General Director of JSC "All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center" .

According to a recent study by VTsIOM, 98% of women and 81% of men call physical activity an attribute of a healthy lifestyle (HLS). In second place is giving up bad habits (52% and 47%, respectively), followed by healthy eating (59% of women and 37% of men) and mental health (22% and 16%, respectively). At the same time, 53% of Russians adhere to a healthy lifestyle, including 58% of women and 48% of men.

"If we look at age categories, the positive trend is associated with the youth audience. Over the past five to seven years, we have seen it growing: health is truly a value for young people. Health-preserving behavior is fashionable. People aged 18-24 say that they almost always adhere to such practices much more often than in older age groups. And it is very important to maintain this," the VTsIOM representative emphasized.

Other findings of the study indicate that in reality, 85% of Russians comply with physical activity standards, including 89% of women and 80% of men. 56% (49% and 66%, respectively) give up bad habits. 47% (57% and 34%) monitor their diet. 14% (15% and 11%) follow a daily routine. 11% (14% and 7%) maintain mental health.

"In working groups, the proportion of women who are physically active and exercise and who adhere to healthy eating practices is higher than among the unemployed. We understand that women have a specific motivation. It is important for them to look attractive. And when she is in a group, this factor plays a decisive role. As soon as she falls out of social

“We are seeing a decrease in these indicators in the social environment,” explained Elena Mikhailova . According to her, this is why it is important to carry out work to popularize a healthy lifestyle in organized groups. Moreover, the importance of medical examinations cannot be ruled out. In 2024, 76% of employees are already covered by it, while in 2023 their share was only 51%. And this is largely the result of the measures that were taken.

During the session, much was said about the importance of combating stress as the main problem of the century in the world. According to WHO, there are already 55 million people in the world with cognitive health disorders, and in five years, 150 million are expected. In Russia, there are currently 1.5 million of them, but there is also a sharp increase.

Therefore, from 2025, within the framework of the national project, health centers should appear in all regions, and in them - special cognitive health rooms. The first of them was opened in the brain and neurotechnology center of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia. Today, its work is being standardized in order to scale the practice across the country.

Natalia Bondarenko, Chief Specialist in Therapy and General Medical Practice of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia, Chief Physician of the Clinical Hospital No. 85 of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency, spoke about the possibilities of developing a healthy workforce . According to her, the national project “Long and Active Life” and the federal project “Health for Everyone”, where great attention is paid to the health of working Russians, are intended to facilitate this.

At the same time, the formation of a healthy life is carried out through population prevention. An important challenge of our time is the transition from medicine of treating the sick to medicine of accompanying the healthy. It is a well-known fact that human health depends on unmodified factors (age, gender and genome) by 15% and on the external environment by 85% (50-55% are conditions and lifestyle, 15-20% are macro- and microecology). Following a healthy lifestyle will prevent the manifestation of genetically negative patterns inherent in a person and vice versa.

Natalia Bondarenko noted that the FMBA of Russia has now developed a continuum of health preservation for workers, a standard system for preserving the health of employees of industrial enterprises. This model is constantly being improved, it can be taken and implemented in every organization.

"In 2023, a study was conducted at the Federal Medical and Biological Agency. It showed that women more often set the agenda at work. A woman in a team is a lever for managing group health and an ideology of prevention. She is the most active participant in the health preservation process both at the family level and in the team. The modern world dictates the need to help her with this. And we understand that society has much more potential here than is realized in practice," the speaker emphasized, once again emphasizing the role of the employer in this process.

Another topic that was raised was the trend of population aging. The share of people over 65 years old may increase from 10% in 2023 to 16-18% in 5 years. Anna Ratnikova, PhD in Medicine, Senior Researcher at the Federal State Budgetary Institution "North-West District Scientific and Clinical Center named after L.G. Sokolov of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia", Chief Physician of Life Energy Saint Petersburg LLC, spoke about active longevity and the importance of determining your biological age to motivate lifestyle changes .

And the opinion of large businesses on the development of a labor protection system at enterprises was given by the head of the medical safety and health protection service of Sibur LLC, Anna Tumasyeva .
