The international television festival “Women for the Preservation of Traditions” in Kursk introduced participants and viewers to the folklore of the regions of Russia, the Republics of Belarus and Moldova

The Kursk interregional public organization for the support of social and civil initiatives “Women Leaders”, with the support of the EWF Council, organized a large show of folk art in the format of a teleconference #womenforpreservingtraditions.

The festival fully complies with the values of the project of the same name by the Council of the Eurasian Women's Forum and the National Center for Historical Memory under the President of the Russian Federation . The project team is engaged in research and support of best practices for preserving folk culture and family values on an ongoing basis.

The VKontakte online marathon “Women for Preserving Traditions” has grown into an all-Russian competition. His followers were the team of the RPO “Women Leaders” from Kursk, which was among the winners of the online marathon with the project “Merchant Kursk” (revival of the traditions of local merchants, for example, the annual Christmas ball).

The telethon became their next step towards their goal - the fourth Eurasian Women's Forum. The holiday opened with the performance of the folk dance of the Kursk region “Timonya”. This is a dance, and choruses, and a musical tune, and “karagod” (round dance) at the same time. The people of Kursk, who reached Berlin in 1945, danced “Timonya” for several hours in a row on the day the surrender of Nazi Germany was announced. Nowadays, the ancient tradition is preserved in the southern regions of the region.

Neighbors also joined the marathon. The Belgorod region presented the ancient song “Porushka - Paranya”. The Volgograd region joined in with a folk song performed by the State Song and Dance Ensemble "Cossack Will". The team from Tula performed the choreographic number “Tula Kruzhilika”, a dance complex in its technique with continuous rotation of the arms and snapping of the fingers. The needlewomen spoke about Oryol spis, traditional peasant embroidery. Ritual towels and tablecloths were made using this technique.

The Alliance of Business Women of the Republic of Moldova presented a folklore wedding ceremony. The public association "Belarusian Women's Union" and the ensemble "Khoroshki" showed folk costumes and wedding headdresses of the 18th century.

The initiative of the EWF Council “Women for the Preservation of Traditions” is a living organism that grows and evolves, attracting new participants and public attention. The collection of competitive applications is currently ongoing. To participate, you need to describe the traditions and foundations that the family preserves and supports in a post on your VKontakte page with the obligatory hashtag #womenforpreservingtraditions.

The results will be announced during the fourth Eurasian Women's Forum in St. Petersburg, and the most interesting traditions aimed at preserving family values, history and culture will also be presented.
