Konstantin Kosachev, Grigory Karasin and Lyubov Glebova took part in the work of the section of the fourth Eurasian Women's Forum

The topic discussed was “Diplomacy and Geopolitics of the 21st Century: Women’s Views on Solving Global Problems.”

Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev , Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Grigory Karasin and First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building Lyubov Glebova took part in the work of the section of the fourth Eurasian Women's Forum on the topic "Diplomacy and Geopolitics of the 21st Century: Women's Views on Solving Global Problems (Dialogue of Women Diplomats and Political Scientists)".

As the participants noted, against the backdrop of the growing importance of diplomacy and geopolitics in the modern world, women are playing an increasingly visible and confident role, occupying various positions in the foreign policy departments of their countries.

According to Konstantin Kosachev , diplomacy has always played a huge role both in the run-up to conflicts, and in their results, and in the achievement of states and rulers of their geopolitical goals by non-military means. "There was a common understanding: security is a common matter, and all states and peoples are dependent on each other in this regard. However, at present, it is not diplomacy that determines geopolitics, but, on the contrary, geopolitics determines diplomacy."

"The history of Europe teaches us: if there is no security for everyone, then there is no security for anyone. But so far this understanding has not found a response in the minds of the leaders of the countries of the collective West," noted Konstantin Kosachev .

According to the parliamentarian, everything that is important at the national level — respect for the rights of minorities, dissent, other people's property and security — all this should be the norm throughout the world. "There is no alternative to a multipolar structure. This is a truly democratic model of the world, as the overwhelming majority of humanity wants to see it. I sincerely hope that it is women who can have their say in a situation where official diplomacy is in a dead end. New approaches, fresh and unconventional ideas are needed — everything that traditionally distinguishes women's views on many problems that seem unsolvable," concluded Konstantin Kosachev .

Lyubov Glebova noted that women currently occupy a worthy place in the implementation of various areas within the framework of Russian state policy.

“In Russia, women appear in the political sphere, in business, in science not because there is a quota to fill, but because they are fully capable of competing with men in such work due to their professionalism, their experience, their authority,” the senator said.

The demand of women for participation in educational, enlightening, leadership programs aimed at increasing women's representation in state, political and public institutions is not only not decreasing, but is growing year after year. In the last four years alone, several international and federal programs have been opened in Russia, implemented by public and educational institutions with the support of the state. Their graduates include women from more than 122 countries of the world, the parliamentarian said.

According to her, the number of women taking part in the “Leaders of Russia” management competition is constantly increasing.

"The prospects for the development of such educational programs are very broad. I expect that the number of women who will take part in these Russian programs will increase annually," concluded Lyubov Glebova .

The Fourth Eurasian Women's Forum is taking place from 18 to 20 September in St. Petersburg. The organizers are the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The operator for the preparation and holding of the event is the Roscongress Foundation.
