Unarmed Fighting: Famous Judokas to Attend Eurasian Women's Forum
For the first time, the Russian Judo Federation (RJF) will take part in the Forum. Its team organized a sports meeting "Women's Judo: A 40-Year Path to Victory" and a celebration of champions.
The 32 communities of the EWF Council often refer to the effectiveness of using “soft power” to win victories and bring about positive changes in society, and women’s judo is, in a sense, its physical embodiment: a fight based not so much on muscle as on flexibility and calculation.
This year, the FDR is celebrating an anniversary with a series of tournaments: 40 years ago, women's judo was officially recognized in the USSR. In 1984, the first all-Union competitions among women took place in the city of Tartu, and the official start - the first USSR Championship, was held in Minsk in 1987. Domestic judokas have repeatedly climbed the Olympic podium.
The participants of the meeting on the sidelines of the Eurasian Women's Forum will be the winners of world and European championships, Olympic medalists: Lyubov Bruletova, Tea Donguzashvili, Madina Taymazova, Victoria Kazunina, Alexandra Babintseva, Olga Sonina, Darya Kurbonmamadova and Irina Dolgova. They will talk about the turns in their sports careers and lives, and share their plans for the future.
After the meeting, there will be a ceremonial awarding of legendary athletes and new "stars" of Russian sports - winners of women's professional competitions "Russian Judo Tour" among juniors. This is a special anniversary project of the FDR, stages of which were held this year in Kazan (March) and St. Petersburg (August), and will be held in December in Yekaterinburg.
