A. Yatskin: Russia attaches special importance to international cooperation of women to solve key problems of ecology and climate

The First Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council spoke at the strategic session “Women in Ecology: New Horizons for Growth” within the framework of the Eurasian Women’s Forum.

First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Andrey Yatskin acted as co-moderator of the strategic session "Women in Ecology: New Horizons for Growth". The event was held as part of the fourth Eurasian Women's Forum in St. Petersburg.

The senator welcomed the participants of the strategic session, who are actively involved in issues related to improving the environmental situation in their countries and in the world as a whole.

“With today’s meeting, we are launching the environmental platform of the fourth Eurasian Women’s Forum “Women for a Clean Planet and Food Security”, which includes 11 thematic sessions,” said Andrey Yatskin .

He noted that concern about the state of the planet, the well-being of its ecosystems and climate stability unites residents of all countries of the world today, but women, according to public opinion polls, perceive environmental issues more acutely. About 70 percent of participants in volunteer and charity projects in Russia are women, and ecology has taken a strong place among the areas of their activity.

"We see a number of inspiring examples of women's participation in solving environmental problems. Their stories were even the subject of a special exhibition, "The Female Face of Ecology," which took place last year in the Russian parliament with the support of the Council of the Eurasian Women's Forum," recalled Andrey Yatskin .

The First Vice-Speaker of the Federation Council emphasized that Russia has always taken and will continue to take a serious approach to preserving its natural resources. Starting next year, the implementation of the new national project "Ecological Well-Being" will begin, which will expand the best practices and areas of the previous national project "Ecology," he specified.

"Our country attaches particular importance to the development of international cooperation among women in order to solve key environmental and climate issues. We have great hopes in this regard for the expansion of BRICS, which Russia chairs this year," the senator said.

Based on the results of the event, recommendations will be prepared aimed at effectively addressing environmental protection issues and improving the environmental situation throughout the world.

The Fourth Eurasian Women's Forum is taking place from September 18 to 20 in St. Petersburg. The organizers are the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
